Doubles starts Monday, June 9, 2008 at Lincoln Towers Courts on the OSU campus.

As you know, we have changed the way we are running the doubles league this year. There are few important aspects we want to bring to your attention before play begins on June 9.
  1. Who supplies the balls for the match? Both teams should bring a new, unopened can. One can is used for the match and at the end the winning team receives the unopened can.

  2. What scoring system are we using? We will be using no-ad scoring this year; the first team to win 4 points wins the game. If the game score reaches 3-3, the receiving team chooses which player receives service for the fourth point. Following the USTA scoring system, matches will be limited to 2 sets to be completed within a 90 minute time period. The team that reaches at least 6 games, and is ahead by 2 games, wins the set. If the set is tied at 6 games apiece, a 12-point tiebreaker will be played. In the event that each team wins one set, a third set will be decided by a Super Tiebreak. Please see the doubles rules for more details about the scoring system, an explanation of how to play a Super Tiebreak, and what happens when the time limit is reached.

  3. Where are the courts? They are located just behind the South Stands of the famous OSU Ohio Stadium in the heart of the Ohio State campus between Morrill Tower and the new Recreation and Physical Activities Center (RPAC).

  4. Where to park so you don't get ticketed? Parking is available at the RPAC garage on the east side of the stadium after 6:00 p.m. for $3.00, or you may purchase a monthly parking pass which may be used on all surface lots. To purchase a parking pass you will need to go to Room 160, Bevis Hall on west campus and purchase an affiliate parking permit. The permit cost of $7.50 per month will allow you unlimited parking between 4:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. in any surface lot on campus. You would have the choice to park at South Lincoln, Mid-tower, or West Stadium lots, all close to the tennis courts, with this permit.

  5. How long are the matches? There is a 90 minute time limit to complete your match. It is important that you arrive before 6:30pm or 8:00pm so you may begin on time. We will be ending matches on time.

If you have any further questions, the division captains will be available at the matches to help.

We look forward to seeing you in June. Thanks for participating in CMTO.

Tennis Clinic - Saturday June 7, 2008 at OSU's Lincoln Towers Courts

We will be having a tennis clinic on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 10-11:30 am at the OSU Lincoln Tower Courts. These are the same courts where we will be playing doubles this summer. You can find a map on our web site under doubles.

Everyone at all levels are welcome and we encourage new players to show up. We will be going over some basic strokes, doing some drills and just giving you a chance to get out and hit before the season starts up.

If you did not list your rating when you signed up this will also be a good time for us to see you play and make sure that you are placed in the correct level for the summer.

If you plan to attend please email Jeff back at JSKIBUMR@aol.com so that he will have your email in case it rains. We also will need to know how many people to plan on. The clinic is free we just ask that you bring a new can of balls.
