The Columbus Classic, along with CMTO, is proud to present the Columbus Classic 2016 – A Master Series Event July 22-24!  This year’s event is SO large, that we are scheduled at two, different locations.  You will find us each day at Wickertree Tennis Club (5760 Maple Canyon Drive) & The Player’s Club of Hilliard (3333 Mill Meadow Drive).  Registration may be closed, but you are welcome to stop by to root some of your favorite CMTO players on . . . or meet a new friend from outside of Columbus!  This year’s event will feature over 140 participants from various States, Canada and overseas.

The Columbus Classic 2016 was designated the distinguished title of “Master Series” by the Gay & Lesbian Tennis Association (GLTA).  This means that each match a player wins shall receive double Championship points toward the annual GLTA World Tournament.  We are honored by this designation as only three tournaments in North America, and two overseas tournaments, earn this title!  The GLTA conducts over 70 different tennis tournaments around the world, including Canada, Spain, England, China and Israel (just to name a few).

Proceeds from this event shall once again benefit Buddy-Up Tennis, a non-profit that strives to teach the sport of tennis and general fitness to children with Down Syndrome and Autism.  Buddy-Up Tennis was originated in Columbus by Beth Gibson seven years ago.  Since then, the program has expanded to 13 other cities, with over 500 athletes, 700 buddies and 60 coaches.

Ohio State University’s Lincoln Tower Park, located just east of Rte. 315 on the southside of Ohio Stadium, will host our next CMTO’s Saturday Outdoor Tennis Tune-Up & Social. The event will be on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Look for us on Courts #1 & #2.

We will dedicate the first part of the event to help you with your tennis skills and perform drills. The remaining time will give you the opportunity to mingle with others and hit some tennis balls around for fun. All we ask is that you bring a new or gently used sleeve of tennis balls to play with on the courts.

All skill levels and non-CMTO members are invited to participate, so bring a friend. This is a FREE event! We will have a special prize drawing for those in attendance courtesy of Sunny 95.

You are encouraged to RSVP on our Facebook event page (once it is set up) so we may send you a Facebook message the morning of the event in case of cancellation due to weather or elements beyond our control.  You may also send us an email by clicking here.

This shall be the FINAL CMTO Outdoor Summer Tennis Social of the season. Continue to watch our Facebook page for updates for our CMTO Indoor Tennis Socials beginning in December.  Click here for a Google map to the courts.
